The Danish Diabetes and Endocrine Academy
We produced this short documentary-style film for The Danish Diabetes and Endocrine Academy to highlight the role of industrial PhD students in bridging academic research and private biotech innovation. The film follows Maria, a young PhD student working at Gubra — a leading Danish biotech company — as she navigates daily lab life, teamwork across disciplines, and the dual mentorship between university and industry.
Through a mix of observational footage, interviews, and on-site visuals from Gubra’s state-of-the-art facilities, the film explores the scientific and collaborative benefits of industrial PhD programs. CEO Jakob Jelsing and Managing Director of DDA, Tore Christiansen, provide insights into the importance of cross-sector talent, research funding, and real-world impact.
With a tone that’s both informative and engaging, the film serves as a dynamic introduction to the value of interdisciplinary training within the life sciences – and the human stories that drive it forward.
